- Acute pain is a term we use to refer to the pain that follows a surgical procedure or follows the onset of an otherwise suddenly painful condition (i.e., Trauma, Severe Migraine Headache, Pancreatitis, etc.). The treatment of such pain is called Acute Pain Management.
